Penn State Countdown: 83

Following a dismal 4-7 campaign in 2004, Penn State roared back into the national title picture by going 9-1 heading to its final showdown with the Spartans for a possible share of the Big Ten title despite having beaten Ohio State earlier in the season.

With an eventual 31-22 win in East Lansing, Penn State captured a share of its 2nd Big Ten title 11 years after its’ first in 1994.

Michael Robinson ran for 90 yards and a touchdown and passed for another, and Alan Zemaitis hauled in 3 interceptions to lead the Lions to a dominating victory securing Joe Paterno’s first BCS bowl appearance.
