Taking it one game at a time. There are 18 home games this season including 8 of the first 9 and the Lions have defended the BJC well thus far.

Game three has the Nittany Lions (2-0) squaring off against the Fairfield Stags (1-1) who many have predicted will win the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conf. after coming so close a year ago. Last season, the Stags compiled a 23-11 overall record including 13-5 in MAAC play. They lost to Siena in overtime of the MAAC championship game barely missing out on a NCAA tournament spot.

Led by Ed Cooley who is now in his 5th year, the Stags will try to counter the loss of players that provided 35.7% of their minutes last season as well as 60.9% of their shot blocking. They do return 2 players that averaged better than 14.5 ppg in sophomore Derek Needham (16.4 ppg) and senior Lyndon Jordan (14.6 ppg) along with senior Lyndon Jordan (1.4 assists/game), sophomore Ryan Olander (1.4 blocked shots/game), and sophomore Colin Nickerson (1.1 assists/game) from last year’s 23-11 squad accounting for more than 60% of the team’s statistical production that is returning.
