Before I begin, I should probably explain why we haven’t posted in a while. Frankly, it’s just been bad timing. I just got back from a study abroad program in Europe, and Charlie is still …

Forget preseason assumptions, Iowa jumps Bama based on resume

Stunned in Ann Arbor. You Own!… Notre Dame??

Just imagine where Iowa would be sitting in the polls today had they been a preseason Top 5 team headed into the season. So why are we still rewarding Florida, Texas and Alabama for lackluster wins just based on assumptions before the season even started? I’m not. Iowa jumps to #2 in my blogpoll ballot.

1

W @ Mississippi State 29-19. Another lackluster win and a no show for the offense against another mediocre SEC opponent. So why do people think the SEC is the nation’s toughest conference again? It’s beginning to look like the ACC being led by 3 powerhouse programs. Next up: Georgia (4-3)

+1

2

W @ Michigan State 15-13. Of the remaining unbeaten teams, can anyone boast a better resume? Wins at Iowa State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Arizona, and Michigan. The computers all agree, the Hawkeyes have proven to be the best team in the nation based on what they have done and not what voters thought would happen even before the season started. Next up: Indiana (4-4)

+2

3

W @ Missouri 41-7. If the Longhorns get past Oklahoma State next weekend, there is no one left on their schedule that will even scare them. Now does that make them worthy of the title game over a team like USC? Next up: @ #14 Oklahoma State (6-1)

4

W Tennessee 12-10. I basically bumped Iowa up and dropped Alabama based on their close victories. On one hand, Iowa was able to actually win with possession of the ball. Alabama fans on the other hand, had to thank their stars Tennessee’s kicker is as inaccurate as Fox News. Next up: Idle

5

W Louisville 41-10. This would have been an impressive win 2 years ago. Louisville is just terrible this season. Next up: @ Syracuse (3-4)

-

6

W Oregon State 42-36. USC got their revenge against the Beavers but have to be extremely weary that their defense is starting to look Big 12′ish especially with Oregon coming up. Unfortunately for the Ducks, Pete Carroll’s forte is big game planning. Watch for USC to demolish the Ducks in a game they are actually 3 point underdogs in. Next up: @ #10 Oregon (6-1)

-

7

W Auburn 31-10. Another win over another mediocre SEC team. SEC is Over-rated… Clap… Clap… Clap clap clap… Next up: Tulane (2-5)

-

8

W @ Michigan 35-10. Way to exorcise a 16 year old demon. Other than the opening drive by Michigan, Penn State absolutely dominated the highest scoring offense in the Big Ten. In the past 2 weeks, Penn State have met two of the top offenses in the conference and has shut out Minnesota and held Michigan to 10 points. Next up: @ Northwestern (5-3)

+2

9

W @ Virginia 34-9. Another win for the Yellow Jackets. Unfortunately it was just Virginia. Next up: Vanderbilt (2-6)

-

10

W @ #16 BYU 38-7. An impressive win over a rising mid major on the road. Next up: UNLV (3-5)
