Remember the Rich Rod is a Liar and a Snake series? You don’t? Heres a quick recap.

“Rich Rod’s staff stole more de-commits by themselves than the entire conferences of the SEC, Big East, Big 12 and Pac 10. He can rest assured that the entire conference of the ACC with its 2 divisions have the same de-commits stolen as the great institution of Michigan.”

Apparently Brian at Mgoblog attempted to justify Rich Rod’s suspect recruiting techniques by… drumroll please… blaming the recruit!

“Which, like… of course. Roy Roundtree is perfectly capable of making sound decisions like “not going to Purdue.” He has free will.”

Yes, he does. But the question isn’t whether these kids are capable of making sound decisions, what are the odds of Roundtree even considering switching if Michigan decided to back off after his verbal to Purdue.

But hey, everyone does it Brian argues.

Every coach in the Big Ten has, at one time or another, attempted to poach some other Big Ten school’s “commitment.”

Granted we have had one or two instances every few years in which one Big Ten school poached or attempted to steal another recruit from a fellow conference member. Which by the way, despite what those at Mgoblog says, IS a lot worst than stealing from out of conference teams.

“Stealing recruits from your fellow brethren is like shitting where you sleep. You are not only going to be playing with one another, but there are galas, conferences, conventions and even meetings that will thrust you among your fellow conference peers and Rich Rod has not experienced that as of now. Think he’ll be sitting side by side with Tiller, Tressel or Paterno anytime soon? At the rate he’s going, they’ll have to bring in a kid’s table just so he can sit by himself during Media Day.”

But no one has done it at the rate Rich Rod is going. But hey, Michigan just wants to beat Ohio State at this point so who can blame them. But common, blaming the recruits for switching their commitments? You can do better. Sure, Rich Rod continuing pressure on Roundtree even after his verbal to Purdue had absolutely nothing to do with his decommitment.

So any takers for Rich Rod’s roommate at the Big Ten media conference in Chicago? Joe, Tiller and Tressel rather sleep in a cardboard box.

Whatever. Every school tried to plunder Michigan’s recruiting class when Rodriguez took over, including Penn State. You’re just pissy because Rodriguez succeeded where JoePa and others failed.

Hilarious how people will not stop whining about this. All i can say is that PSU better beat Michigan while they are down this year because once Rodriguez gets settled in PSU can expect another nine losses in row. Speaking of the nine losses in a row…i always found it funny how the two years Michigan didn’t play PSU(2003, 2004) were two of PSU’s worst seasons in long time. If it were not for that scheduling break it would 11 in a row…

I don’t have a big problem with coaches continue to recruit guys who have verballed elsewhere. The coach is taking a chance on wasting time and resources but as wishy-washy as kids are, a verbal doesn’t mean much. However, I do take issue with RR in that he is basically a hypocrite in this regard. Last year he ripped Rick Tricket in the media for getting a WVU verbal to switch to FSU. Then this year, RR’s recruiting coordinator tells the media they won’t call any WVU verbals but then they did. Why lie? Why publicly chastise one coach for the same behavior you engage in? Pick a philosphy of personal conduct and be proud of it.

Lurkeer, you have efficiently put into words how exactly I feel about Rich Rod and his recruiting tactics. Its not so much that someone switched to Michigan. That happens, thats life. But he just exhumes an arrogance which is like giving the finger to the institution of coaches and tradition that reigns in the Big Ten. Its like new money walking into an old established country club.

How is that MBA investigation going ?? That is something you should really be concerned about as it reflects on the academic reputation of WVU ? Instead you continue to whine about a coach leaving your school for another and assume that all the “lying” in the court case was done by RR. I find it difficult to believe the word of a former fund raiser for WVU.

not whining just stating actual facts. And I suppose you believe that RR is totally honest? I suppose you believe it when RR states his contract at WVU was worse than what African slaves experienced in this country? Or do you deny that he made that claim?

Check out Michael Shaw’s times (10.39); he’s an 1/4 second faster than Teddy Ginn was in the 100 meters. Keep up the good work Coach Rod.

    Lurkeer,

That statement was not made by RR, but by his attorney who was speaking out without RR’s knowledge. So, no, RR did not say that. Not at all.

This post is crap. You willfully miss the point, and that point is this:

“You know what?” Roundtree said. “It was my decision.”

But you didn’t include that quote in your above rant, did you?

And once again gjp joins the chorus of Michigan fans blaming the recruit solely for switching his commitments. Hey, if the kid says he did it, it doesn’t matter that Rich Rod continues to apply pressure after a verbal. That obviously had absolutely nothing to do with it. I’m not trying to say Roundtree was right or wrong in his recommitment, I’m just trying to point out the absurd justification Wolverine fans are now using in saying it was all the recruits idea.

It WAS his idea, but think he even had a decision to make had Rich Rod not continued to pursue him after his original verbal to Purdue. But hey, win at all costs everyone says.
